With a background in jazz and classical music, Jenna Hunt is a musician with a variety of musical skills. While she regularly performs with Colorado orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber orchestras, and as a soloist or chamber musician, Jenna has also performed as a jazz artist- leading her own trio or duo. She has recorded and played as a studio musician on albums such as Patrick Lee’s album Limberlost and has performed with touring groups including Evanescence and Sarah Brightman on their tours to Colorado. She loves performing for weddings and special events, and when she is not sitting behind the harp, Jenna maintains an active and fun private studio of successful harp students. Jenna’s musical journey has taken her all over the world to the stages of the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Shanghai Performing Arts Center.
In March, 2020, Jenna was a featured soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs’ performance of Frank Martin’s Pièce Symphonie Concertante. Around that same time, Jenna also performed the third movement to Ginastera’s Harp Concerto for Lamont School of Music’s Convocation as a winner of the Honorable Mention for their Concerto Competition. She has grown as a soloist over the years, but also performs in chamber groups and as an orchestra musician. Jenna is regularly found playing with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic- having performed Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture and Ravel’s Alborado del Gracioso, as well as a majority of their Pops concerts.
While Jenna has grown as a musician, her passion for teaching music has also grown. She shares this passion with her students, focusing her goals as a teacher in preparing them for whatever musical future they wish to have. In February 2020, Ms. Hunt taught a masterclasses in jazz improvisation at the Mile High Chapter of the American Harp Society’s First Annual Harp Symposium. She has taught at the Denver School of the Arts, the Lamont Summer Academy, and also currently holds the position of harp instructor at Colorado College in Colorado Springs.
Proud to be a fifth generation Colorado native, Jenna grew up in the not-so-small-anymore town of Monument, Colorado. She felt an immediate passion for music, having studied piano, percussion, and harp at the same time for several years while growing up. In high school, she joined her local youth orchestra, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, which toured around the country or world every year. She also enjoyed competing and winning several competitions as a percussionist in honor bands and marching bands. In 2015, Ms. Hunt received her undergraduate degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, one of the top jazz schools in the country. She is expected to complete her Master’s Degree in Harp Performance from the University of Denver in Fall, 2020, where she has had the pleasure and honor of studying with Grace Browning and Ann Marie Liss. Her other passions include competing in Ultimate Frisbee, tasting new food, and spending time with her rescue lab/pit mix, Charlie.
